Yves Brault “Between Symbolism and Intimacy”

Starting with the way the Neolithic people represented sexuality in Tassili-n-Ajjer, Central Sahara, we will try to describe how our most intimate activity goes beyond this framework to achieve some universalism.

Elena Purtova “Stolen Eros”

In my presentation, using two cases (male and female) as examples, I will introduce Jung's approach in the treatment of sexual problems. In both cases, this topic is not central to the process of psychotherapy, but at some point it turns out to be closely related to major conflicts. To understand and study it, various theoretical constructs is used: trauma, transfer of re-traumatisation, complex, archetype of countersexuality. However, in both cases, a special procedural approach is equally important to understand the manifestations of the subconscious, both in the internal and external mental space.

Armands Brants,  Anita Pilena,  Ginta Ratniece

"Love and Sexuality: in Neurobiological and Physiological Processes, in Symbolic Aspects, in the Concepts of Psycho Organic Analysis”
In society, people often feel uncomfortable about sexuality trivialised to the level of simple sex, forgetting that it is a source of basic energy. As Jacqueline Besson and Yves Brault, the leaders of the ideas of psychoorganic analysis, remind us: “… In each of us there is a source of basic energy that strives for a purpose. This source is indestructible (only death can destroy it). However, there is a possibility of losing contact with the source if the fulfilment of our desires is too complicated and it is much easier not to feel it at all. That way, many people no longer know what they want and whether they wanted anything at all. ”
A. Brants, A. Pilena and G. Ratniece, teachers at the Baltic POA school, will broaden view on concepts of a psychoorganic approach, addressing the topics as follows: passion and love; the mental functioning and neurobiology in the context; the symbolic aspects that enable a psychotherapist to look at the client's problems from wider perspectives, regarding possible changes of sexuality and affection in long-term relationships; the possibility, impossibility or durability of happiness. A joint discussion is estimated as the ability to find joy, enjoy life, build relationships and perceive them as a source of family succession.

Indulis Paics "Collective Representations of Sexuality: Origins, Diversity, and Therapeutic Options at the Individual Level"

Religious and cultural representations of sexuality have a diverse impact on an individual's self-understanding and his approach to building relationships. Desires that contradict prohibitions, idealised models that contradict real possibilities - these are just few examples of how collective representations result in internal conflicts at the individual level. How did the many prohibitions and stereotypes that persist in people's minds arise despite rational efforts to declare them obsolete? How can the awareness of the diversity of collective representations and the realisation of alternatives become a deeply therapeutic experience? At a time when the world is overcrowded and the evolutionary process is reducing the intensity of sexual drive, sexuality must be rediscovered, both as an existential and a spiritual experience.
